The ALLIFI Decision Framework

A disciplined process for life's biggest financial decisions.

Products change. Markets change. Rules change. A clear decision process should not.

01

Discover

What are you trying to accomplish?

Retire comfortably? Remain in your home? Reduce financial stress? Care for a spouse? Help your children? Preserve flexibility? The real objective must come before the product.

02

Measure

What does the complete financial picture look like?

Income, expenses, debt, assets, housing wealth, Social Security, taxes, healthcare, insurance, estate documents, and family responsibilities all matter.

03

Analyze

What do the data and math say?

Cash-flow projections, break-even analysis, affordability, risk, longevity, taxes, and long-term scenarios should be understandable—not hidden behind jargon.

04

Evaluate

What reasonable options exist?

Doing nothing is an option. So are spending changes, delaying Social Security, working longer, renovating, downsizing, borrowing, selling, coordinating with professionals, or combining multiple strategies.

05

Project

What are the long-term consequences?

How does today's decision affect future cash flow, taxes, retirement income, housing security, healthcare, a spouse, children, and legacy goals?

06

Decide

Can the recommendation be explained and documented?

A family deserves to know why a recommendation was made, what it was compared against, which assumptions were used, what the trade-offs are, and which risks remain.

If a professional cannot show you the data, explain the math, and put the recommendation in writing, walk away.
